How projects are funded

Task Brasil Trust became a UK registered charity in 1993 (no. 1030929) and began raising funds to provide support to the street children of Brazil. A substantial donation from rock legend Jimmy Page in 1996 enabled Task Brasil to purchase Casa Jimmy, its first children's home. It has been fortunate in having many facilities donated, ranging from the UK office and its supplies to the transportation of donated goods to Brazil via the British Navy. A partnership with the City Council of Rio also provides part of the funding for Casa Jimmy.

Task Brasil Inc opened in the US in the summer of 2002 and hopes to expand its fundraising capabilities over the coming years.

The daily running of the projects depends on the Sponsor a Child scheme - whereby members of the public undertake to make a regular contributions - and donations from a number of organisations and companies (see Our supporters). Funds are also raised through events, the London Marathon in the UK, and individual donors. Without all of this support none of the work of Task Brasil would be possible.

The efficient low cost initiatives of Task Brasil allows the UK and US sections to operate with the barest expenditure so that the maximum resources can be utilised where they are most needed in Brazil
